The Adopt A Cop program was developed in 2011 as a fundraising campaign for replacement bullet proof vests for local Tucson law enforcement officers who wore vests past the 5 year manufacturer effective date. Due to budget issues, some law enforcement agencies are not able to provide replacement vests but rather have the officers pay for them mainly out of pocket. Since 2011, the Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Foundation has funded over 400 vests and accomplished providing patrol officers with an updated vest.
Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Foundation continues to raise funds under the Adopt A Cop program for critical life-saving equipment, technology and training as needed, including bullet proof vests. Donate to the Adopt A Cop program and you can help in a real, tangible way. This program provides the opportunity for individuals and businesses in the community to show their support and appreciation of law enforcement officers who put their lives on the line every day to protect the livelihood of you, me and our children. You can protect those who are protecting you.
We are asking Tucson businesses, individuals and community organizations to donate to Southern Arizona Law Enforcement Foundation. For example, $800 covers the cost of one replacement bullet proof vest. You can donate one, two or more vests! Any amount you contribute will be applied toward our officers’ greatest needs. We want to help Protect Our Protectors and ensure they are better equipped, trained and supported than the bad guys who threaten our community.
